December 27, 2007

On the white sandy beach of Hotel del Coronado on December 27, 2007, I proposed to my beloved Annie. The day was perfect: it was a sunny blue sky and backdrop was the gorgeous The Del. As we sat and enjoyed the view of the beach and the warmth of the afternoon sun on that winter day, I began my proposal speech: "December 27th marked the 8th year and 9th month that we've been together. This date is also significant in that when you add the numbers of the month (12) together you get the number 3, the day (27) you get 9, and the year (2007) you get 9. March 1999 (3/99) was when we went on our first date." Annie started to tear up little. "I know I drive you crazy at times but I love you so much and I want to spend the rest of my life with you." I then took out the ring box which I had discreetly hid in my right jacket pocket. I went down one knee, popped open the box and followed with the question: "Will you marry me?" Annie started to shed her tears of happiness and so I held her close. A few moments passed and she was able to regain her composure and responded with "Yes, I will."

And therefore, we're engaged! I'm one happy man and she's my happy lady -- a double happiness so to speak.

Wow, as if it were ripped from the pages of a romance novel set in the early 1900's. Congratulations! Eric and I are both happy for you. Hope the next nine years and on are as good as the last.
